Biography I have worked as a journalist, editor, writer, photographer and designer for 30 years and have been freelance since 1999.

From 1999-2008 I edited, then also designed and produced, the twice-yearly Journal of the John Muir Trust, Britain's main campaigning group for wild land. I did the same for its annual reports, estate factsheets and newsletters.

My work as a journalist began in the 1970s on weekly trade magazines, covering environment, transport and planning. I worked in communications and PR in local government in Scotland and then on editing, writing and designing software documentation for US, Canadian and Icelandic customers.
Main professional activities Occasional contributor to John Muir Trust Journal and www.somethingactive.com, seeking to develop magazine and newspaper work. Other than outdoors and travel, I do editing work for the Institute of Education, London, and illustration and design work for telecoms company 724 Solutions.
